The Summer Riding Academy at Salko Farm is an unforgettable summer experience. Each session is an intensive five-day immersion in horses. Our goal is to enrich each of our participant's riding ability. In addition to this, each participant will be taught horsemanship, riding fitness including yoga, and many other things. Each day provides a balance between riding, stable management, and fun horse-related activities. We only accept a limited number of children each week so that each child receives a personalized and safe experience.
Each week our counselors in training will be assisting in all aspects of our riding program. They will help with lessons, tacking, teaching horsemanship and organizing daily activities.
CITs must have basic horse knowledge and be comfortable around horses. CITs must be at least 12 years of age or entering the 6th grade. Usually our CIT program is limited to current Salko Farm riders, as their knowledge of the farm and its procedures is very useful.
This program is for riders 3 - 5 years of age. No experience required. Riders will be in small groups with a high staff to student ratio. They will learn basic horse care and riding skills.
FOR ALL AGES
Monday - Wednesday riders will receive one riding lesson daily. Thursday is Show Day - (parents’ day) - demonstration of skills learned. Friday - themed games.
OUR HORSEMANSHIP LESSON IS NOT A PREREQUISITE TO ATTEND OUR SUMMER RIDING ACADEMY.
